چکیده

The origin of bursal lymphoid cells in Japanese quails was studied by means of a quantitative morphological method during a 6 to 12 day incubation period. The findings obtained in this study are summarized as follows. At 6 to 7 days' incubation, no lymphoid cells were observed in the bursal primordium. In 8 day embryonic bursa, the first appearance of lymphoid cells was found in the tunica mucosa. In the epithelium, the first appearance of lymphoid cells was observed at 9.5 days' incubation. At 9.5 to 11 days' incubation, lymphoid cells were frequently observed to pass through the epithelial basement membrane. It may be concluded that the lymphoid cells found in the epithelial region had migrated from the bursal mesenchymal region. The formation of epithelial buds began at about 11 days' incubation, but were never found prior to penetration of lymphoid cells into the epithelium. It may be concluded from the present results that bursal lymphoid cells derive from mesenchymal cells in Japanese quails.

Origin of hemopoietic stem cells in embryonic bursa of Fabricius and bone marrow studied through interspecific chimeras.

The histogenesis of the bursa of Fabricius and of bone marrow was studied by a biological cell marking technique based on differences in the nuclear structure of two species of birds, Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) and chick (Gallus gallus). In quail cells the nucleus contains a large amount of heterochromatin associated with the nucleolus. That makes it possible to distinguish the...

In present study, two trials had been conducted to evaluate the effects of Spirulina platensis (SP) on growth performance, carcass characteristics, egg quantity and quality traits, and immunity response of Japanese quails. In trial 1, a total number of 180 one-day-old Japanese quails were randomly assigned into 6 groups, 3 replicates with 10 quail chicks per replicate. Experimental die...

The Ontogeny of Chicken Bursal Stromal Cells Defined by Monoclonal Antibodies

Molecules expressed on lymphoid stromal cells influence the differentiation of lymphocytes. We have examined the expression of stromal markers, identified by monoclonal antibodies, in the chicken bursa of Fabricius during ontogenic development. These results are also consistent with the hypothesis that medullary secretory cells are of mesenchymal origin, whereas the basement membrane-associated...
